 Minnie Corinnie's Easy Rapunzel Dress

Minnie Corinnie's Rapunzel dress is easy peasy lemon squeezey!  This was my first sewing project since home ec. my freshman year of high school (nearly 15 years ago!) and I am pretty happy with the result!  This project took me about a week to sew, which is not bad considering I had to squeeze all of my sewing into Corinne's naptimes.

This project was completed with Simplicity Pattern 5695.  As the name implies, it was pretty simple!  Just follow the pattern instructions.  I took photos of some of the trickier parts (and of course I use the word "tricky" fairly liberally since I am a novice sewer).

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, make your dress?  Do I dare?

Simplicity Pattern 5695

This pattern can be used to make mulitple princess dresses.  It is available in sizes 1/2-2 and 2-4.  Follow pattern instructions.

 Materials

Light & Dark purple cotton fabric

-I bought 1 yd of each and had left over fabric for scraps

Thread, 1/2" Casing, 1/4" Elastic, and 3/8" Ribbon

Bodice Embellishments

Once you have cut out all of your pieces, add embellishments to the front of the bodice.

Bodice Embellishments

Baste the ribbon onto the bodice with matching pink thread.  Leave x's loose if desired.

Adding fancy stitching is super easy if your machine has this setting pre-programmed.  Line the needle up with the edge of the bodice to ensure the flower stitches match up on each side.

Add Fancy Stitching

Mark the center of the sleeve with a pin and add your first piece of ribbon along the center line.  Add additional pieces of ribbon on either side.  I used one inch spacing.

Sleeve Embellishments

Bias Tape/Casing

Hem Sleeve

Narrowly hem the long edge of the sleeve.  Use the hemming foot, if available, or fold the material over twice to create a clean hemline.

Pin the bias tape along the casing line as indicated on the pattern. Sew close to the edges of the bias tape to create a little tunnel for the elastic.

Bodice is complete!  Skirt pictures coming soon!

Finished Bodice

Attach the sleeves (right side out) to inside of the bodice (wrong side out).  Stitch sleeves to the bodice.

All dressed up!
